We hadn't originally intended to put any biographical information on this site as the only people we thought would be following us on our journeys were friends to whom we had given the web site address. However, since friends have passed the site address on to other friends and family, and since there was an article about our U.S. trip in The Milwaukee Journal, there are some people following our trip who don't know us. Here's a brief background on each of us.
Until mid-1998, Jane was the vice president in charge of investor relations for a managed health care company. Prior to that, she worked on health care policy for organizations in both California and Wisconsin. She has also worked for state government and in paid and unpaid positions for environmental organizations. Jane grew up in California and England, but wisely moved to Wisconsin where she met David.
David's professional life has been divided into three distinct phases: social worker, personnel specialist and, most recently, house-husband and computer consultant. He was born and raised in Anderson, IN and (luckily) lived in Wisconsin from 1977-1990 where he met the love of his life and moved to California.
Together we enjoy travel (obviously), good food, reading, listening to music, baseball, nature walks and visiting with friends.
We've been married for nine years as of May 5th and our sabbatical is the culmination of a couple of years of planning and dreaming. Until Jane's company closed we weren't sure when we would be able to take trips like these. We seized the opportunity and are happily being vagabonds for awhile. It is a great time for us to assess our life and decide how we would like to spend the rest of it.
