This small hotel has recently been totally refurbished and more rooms added by means of taking over the house next door. The decor is very simple, but pleasant with nice accents. There is a beautiful view across the Solent from many of the rooms. There is a very nice deck with umbrellas overlooking the beach and a hot tub on a deck in front of the annex.

The restaurant, in the basement of the main building, serves breakfast for guests in the morning and is open to anyone for lunch and dinner. The food is excellent. (See the Isle of Wight restaurant section for more.)

Note: We picked this hotel, just west of the Esplanade in Ryde, on the recommendation of Fodor's. The guide said that because it was off the Esplanade it was quiet. This was apparently before the night club moved into the building across the parking lot from the new building. Our room (Number 12) was in the worst possible position to get the noise and we were only able to mask it by closing the windows (taking away some of the charm of being near the water) and turning on the fan. We're not sure if one could hear the music in the main building or not, but we can't recommend this hotel because of noise.
